History: Grits was a mini horse deemed too big for mini-horse fanciers and subsequently abandoned at an auction barn. Once there, he was adopted by the sanctuary from a rescue group in Kansas. Once he got out onto the large pasture with the big horses, he ate too much. Now, he has complicated weight and feet issues and is on daily medication. This is a common problem for mini-horses.
