Van-Lear Black: Well known in the philanthropic community, Van and his wife Marion are generous with many organizations and institutions, especially when it comes to animals and animal welfare. They both have worked hard to help us reach out to others in St. Louis and spread the word about Dogwood Farm Sanctuary. Van is a great sounding board and advisor. He has high standards and we strive to meet his expectations. Van is a former executive with Enterprise Leasing and lives in St. Louis County.
Florence Shinkle: A former reporter for the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Florence lends a large dose of sanity and thoughtful good judgment to our organization, which is often needed. She continues to be a receptive listener who offers frank and clear evaluations for all sorts of emotional and practical decisions. Florence lives on a farm in Franklin County and her equine expertise is highly valued when it comes to determining priorities and finding resources.
Judy McCombs: Judy lives in Jefferson County and travels northward to Lincoln County to review expenses and bank statements several times a year so that we keep good records for our budget and tax filing. Every expense made at the sanctuary is documented in three-ring binders with receipts attached to each bank statement. The board reviews our expenses and statement on an ongoing basis. Judy has been a book keeper and accountant for a small business for more than 35 years.
