All of our funding comes from individuals or foundations. We do not receive any funding from governmental agencies or other humane organizations. We are not a public entity. We are a 501(c)3 organization that raises money to operate the sanctuary and pay for the veterinary care, food and housing for the animals at the facility.

We are always raising money to provide the best food, medical care and facilities for the animals. Like most work in animal rescue, it is an ongoing effort to have enough money to care for the animals as they continue to come to us in need. In addition, we have a substantial geriatric community and, much like humans, the expensive years are the later ones. Medications, diagnostics and even treatments to sustain good quality of life can be expensive and substantial.

Our expenses are at the front end: helping the animal recover from the initial intake and then getting them ready for adoption. And then in the second phase, if they are not adopted, we provide long-term care, where they can live out their lives in spacious, clean and well-kept facilities with lots of human interaction.

We are small, but we carry out our mission with great enthusiasm, passion and dedication.

Adopt

Whether you adopt from us or another rescue group, this has a direct effect on the number of homeless animals. For each one adopted, it makes a space for another. Click here to learn more about adopting an animal.

Volunteer

We welcome dedicated volunteers and we have many opportunities to volunteer at our sanctuary. We ask that you let us know what you want from this volunteer activity and what you wish to provide. This helps us figure the best placement for you. Our morning shifts tend to be the most popular and most valuable for us as that's when the animals are feed and cleaned to start the day right. We have a variety of jobs, including direct animal care, facilities management and secretarial jobs (paperwork.) Please fill out the volunteer application and we’ll be with you shortly. Please note that the facility is located about an hour from Clayton.

To volunteer, please click here to complete the volunteer application, and we will be in touch soon.

Work days

Occasionally, we have work days for done-in-a day projects. These are specific jobs that require quick work and lots of hands. Examples include: Big cleaning projects, (washing walls and ceiling fans,) rearranging the hay storage building, landscaping and yard work. We welcome girl/boy scout groups, employee groups and others.

From time to time, we’ll announce work days and hope that a few folks show up to help with seasonal projects. Be sure to like us on Facebook for notification.

If you want to “design” your own work day…that works too. There is always plenty to do and we are grateful to have people who can help. If you have skills like carpentry, painting or facility management, let us know and we’ll make sure we have all that you need to complete the job.
